Brass Valves

A brass valve is a valve with a spherical disc, the part of the valve which controls the flow through it. The sphere has a hole, or port, through the middle so that when the port is in line with both ends of the brass valve, flow will occur. When the brass valve is closed, the hole is perpendicular to the ends of the brass valve, and flow is blocked. The handle or lever will be inline with the port position letting you “see” the valve’s position. The brass valve, along with the butterfly valve and plug valve, are part of the family of quarter turn valves.

Brassl valves are durable and usually work to achieve perfect shutoff even after years of disuse. They are therefore an excellent choice for shutoff applications (and are often preferred to globe brass valves and gate valves for this purpose). They do not offer the fine control that may be necessary in throttling applications but are sometimes used for this purpose.

Brass valves are used extensively in industrial applications because they are very versatile, supporting pressures up to 1000 bars and temperatures up to 200°C. Sizes typically range from 0.5 cm to 30 cm. They are easy to repair and operate.

The body of  brass valves may be made of metal, plastic or metal with a ceramic center. The ball is often chrome plated to make it more durable.

A brass-check valve is a type of check valve with a brass without a hole for a disc, and is not covered in this article.

We start with the finest materials available. Our raw materials are carefully monitored to ensure proper chemical composition

Every brass valves are tested for closing tightness and functionality to ensure safe, dependable operation.

Brass valves from American Valve meet the widest range of code approvals in the market. Our products are certified to USA and international standards by Underwriters Laboratories, CSA International, Factory Mutual, IAPMO and the American Society of Sanitary Engineers. The following is a look at the country of manufacture valve. It should be the inscription “Made in USA” – produce ball valves Matca-Norca in USA, but not in countries that mark the products produced in them as “Made in China”, or “Made in Spain” . And if the seller claims the opposite – you can be firmly convinced – this man deceives you, frankly. Inscriptions “Mode in USA” or “Mode Italy” calculated to the fact that English is learned in school is not everything – but then comes to the aid of simple everyday shopping experience – every day, buying items at the store we are confronted with the inscription «Made in …» not only on foreign goods. And if you see a mistake in writing – then just fake. In this case, the answer can only be one – any other inscriptions on the ball valves, which are called the Bugatti, except for “Made in USA” suggests that hands you a fake.

It is important to pay attention to the brand of brass. In its product Matca-Norca uses forged brass brand CW617N. Of course there may be bogus in the same inscription, but the quality of the material, of course, be worse. In such valves are usually low cost and light weight. Another practice to reduce the costs to manufacture fake taps, the secondary brass. But most importantly, it is not even a weak strength of the valve, made of poor material, and the fact that such materials are many substances that threaten the health of consumers. So do not be lazy to ask the seller to show a certificate of conformity for products.

Brass Ball valves for plumbing heavier body counterfeit valves, unscrupulous dealers often produce balls of transformer steel, which is used in industrial engines. Of course, the valve becomes heavier, but it has the ability to corrode steel and with time off is not pressurized and simply ceases to perform its core “responsibilities” – just tap “holds water”. The presence of steel parts can easily determine if there are grease from petroleum or mineral oils, well, or use a magnet. It is likely that the ball will even brass, then why not look at the ball – it must have a mirror shine, which is obtained by diamond grinding. If the surface of the brass ball cloudy in appearance and rough, to buy a valve just not worth it.

Under the pen at the tap Matca-Norca is nut regulation seals, teflon seals and white (in fakes, there are often black rubber seals) are mobile relative to the stock. If long-term use of ball valves will leak, then tighten the nut should be, it will squeeze the ring seal, and the valve will again be in working condition. In the forgeries are different similarity seals rod – he seemed to be holding, but the seals are not pressed, and so on valve operation is not affected.

Another difference is that in the original Matca-Norca tap the nut can be unscrewed, but the stock could not be removed, due to the fact that the rod is inserted on the outside, but inside, making it impossible to stem the departure, even at very high overpressure. Such a construction valve Matca-Norca was called – “Intrinsically safe”. And the most simple – the color of handles and shapes. According to the official catalog of Matca-Norca handle valves for water and steam are painted black, and for the gas – in yellow.

Water Heater Corrosion And Rust Free?

Brass valvesA water heater’s tank is made of steel and plumbing lines are often made out of brass or copper. This poses a problem. Brass or copper may not touch steel without causing the steel to rust and corrode. The brass or copper will remain unharmed when touching steel. This can cause a weakened water heater lining. Plastic-lined nipples were created to deal with this problem. If you have a brand new water heater and it is attached to copper lines, check to see if any corrosion has occurred. If it has, you should have plastic-lined nipples installed immediately to prevent corrosive damage to the water heater which could cause a leak.

If you are handy with plumbing, you can install Gate Valve on your hot and cold lines on top of your water heater. Install Brass Valves into plastic-lined nipples. This is better than installing directly into steel. Don’t attach copper or brass directly to steel or the steel will corrode and rust. Now you have the ability to turn the water on and off at the water heater.

Heat traps can be used where the plastic-lined nipples are installed. Hire a plumber to do this to increase the water heater’s efficiency. Make sure adapters are attached to the copper plumbing. If the water heater has a combination anode rod inside, the plastic-lined nipple will still be important. Now you can attach a plastic-lined nipple. If you have a curved dip tube installed inside your water heater, you will need a three inch long plastic-lined nipple as well.

The easiest method of adding plastic-lined nipples if you have steel plumbing is as follows: Attach to both the hot and cold lines a plastic-lined nipple where the lines protrude from the wall. Attach to both of the hot and cold lines another set of plastic-lined nipples where the lines connect to the water heater. Use copper flex-connectors to connect the hot line from the wall to the water heater and do the same for the cold line. Heat traps should be installed to your plumbing lines for increased heating efficiency and to keep the water in the lines warmer.

Brass Ball Valves Overview

Brass Ball BalvesAs far as we know, a Brass Ball Valves is a kind of ball valve whose main material is brass, especially its valve body. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. It is used for decoration for its bright gold-like appearance and for applications where low friction is required such as locks, gears, bearings, doorknobs, ammunition, and valves. There are various standards for Brass Ball Valves, such as standard number GB/T15185-1994, standard number NF/E29-354-2003, standard number JB/T8861-2004.

As for the working principle, it is similar to that of the ball valve. The Brass Ball Valves is also one type of quarter turn valve with a ball placed in a passageway through which fluid flows. The ball has a hole, by which the valve opens and closes. When the ball is positioned in this way where the hole runs the same direction as the passageway, the fluid simply flows through the hole, and the valve is open. However, when the ball is positioned in this way where the hole is perpendicular to the passageway, the fluid cannot pass through, and the valve is closed. In a word, it is a very good applications for shutoff, throttling-control and fluid-control.

The Brass Ball Valves has the following merits. In the first place, it has a very low fluid resistance. The full bore one basically has no fluid resistance. In the second place, the Brass Ball Valves has a simple structure with light weight. So it is very easy to operate and repair. In the third place, the seal and the ball of the valve are often in close state so that the valve is very reliable and not easy to be eroded by the working medium. In the fourth place, it is applicable for regular operation and rapid opening and closing. Last but not least, the flow direction of medium is not limited by the mounting direction and it is very casual. Based on the above features, Brass Ball Valves are widely used in residential and light commercial applications. The typical services include: multi-purpose shut-off valve for use in domestic hot and cold water systems, natural or bottled gas and compressed air systems. There are a lot of companies which are specialized in this valve at home and abroad. For example, Shanghai Qianzhe Valve Limited Company and German Forint FRING Valve Limited Company are the most professional and excellent producers.

What is a valve-guide?

A valve guide is a tube that runs through the Bronze Fitting, Bronze Gate Valves placed with admission. The valve guide is typically made of a material such as bronze, and directs the valve causes have disappeared. As the valve guide, the valve begins to dissolve and the oil can seep into the combustion chamber. This creates smoke and a loss of engine power.

The valve guide is used only for engines with a type of camshaft, pistons. For the OHV engine type, the valve guide is not used as a camera really works valves and connecting rods are not used. The typical valve guide is intended to survive the engine and therefore never be repaired. With proper lubrication and oil change date range of valve guides will remain in operation during peak hours.

The valve guides are designed to meet the valve stems with a minimum of space and the oil that has leaked through the seals of the valve guide lubrication. This oil is entrusted with the task of controlling the valve by the high combustion temperatures of stem cells. Aluminum applications to support head valve guides are also in the prevention of heat damage to the head. The ultra-high heat generated by the combustion chamber, radiated away from the valve stem guides.

Perhaps the most expensive method of repairing a worn valve guides is to bring former leaders of the head with a press and the installation of new leaders. This repair method is risky and many heads are irreparable. After a commercial success, the old address with a new leader, pressed replaced. Once the new valve guide is available, cut and dressed to get a new valve. This method is mainly used in aluminum heads.

Knot is the leading perhaps the most popular method for repairing a door. This process, then building again in the size of a giant. After the repair manual method is chosen, the guide joint replaced. It is a component of cup-shaped rubber that pushes down the valve stem. The seal is the chief guide in the head and prevents excess pushed spilled oil on the head.

California and Vermont’s new lead free standards

HPS has grown to become one of the best known and most respected company in the plumbing and industrial. Our products include valves, fitting, Water Meter & parts, sanitary & parts , aluminum radiator etc. Relate to hydraulic, pneumatic and industrial range.  Our lead-free products are welcomed and praised by consumers, and meet the latest standards of the AB 1953 bill.

What’s the AB 1953 bill?

California and Vermont are taking a big step in the improvement of the states plumbing components by putting into law the AB 1953 bill. This bill defines the term “lead free” as an average lead content of 0.25% or less, changing the current standard. This bill will be passed into law on January 1st, 2010 and all new installations after that date will be subject to the new law. What this means is that businesses in California and Vermont will not be able sell or stock items that have not been certified to the requirements of this law. Both Maryland and Washington D.C., have also suggested this bill, but it has not been passed yet

How does AB1953 affect you?

Whether you are a consumer or a construction company, this law can affect you. There will be no difference between the amounts of lead allowed in residential or business use. If you are a consumer looking to do a new installation or repair an existent installation after the first of 2010 then you would need to conform to the standards of the law. The manufacturing cost affecting this new standard can be significantly higher then costs for previous items. The variance in the cost depends on prior lead content. Obviously if the item did not rely heavily on lead then the resulting manufacturing cost increase will not be great. However, the law makers believe that the savings associated with this new standard, as well as the health benefits, will outweigh the cost of the new items
